About the Author: 
John
Hamrock
John
Hamrock grew up in Boston and moved to Ireland in 1988.
His mother, Mary Walsh, emigrated from Connemara to
Boston in 1940. His father, James Hamrock,
grew up in Boston, his father having emigrated from Co. Mayo and
his mother from near Boyle. John is married
with three children, aged 13, 11 and 9. He
has worked in the financial services industry for twenty-five
years both in the United States and in a number of European
countries. He and his family have lived in
France, Belgium, the United States and Ireland.
He
has always had a passion for Irish family history research and
surname origins, first conducting research on his own family,
but then tracing ancestors for others. He
recently completed the four-year Diploma and Certificate
courses in Genealogy/Family History (First Class Honours in
both) at the National University of Ireland, UCD Dublin, these
being the only courses of their kind in Ireland. In Dublin,
he is a member of the Genealogical Society of Ireland and the
Irish Genealogical Research Society. In Boston,
Massachusetts, he is a member of the New England Historical and
Genealogical Society. In London, he is a
member of the Society of Genealogists. He is
also a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists.
John has amassed a considerable library of Irish and
international genealogical and heraldic books and publications.
He concentrates his efforts in conducting family history
research and writing.
His
first book, Tracing
Your Roscommon Ancestors, was published by Flyleaf
Press (www.flyleaf.ie) in Dublin in November 20007. The
book had its genesis as an assignment for his Diploma in
Genealogy taken in UCD. He has also
established an Irish genealogy website: http://www.ancestor.ie.
He

MBA in International Business and Industrial Development,
University of Ulster in Northern Ireland, with Distinction,
1990; Certificate in Investment Planning from Boston University,
1983; BSc in business administration from Suffolk University,
Boston, 1980.
