Our current title ‘Sources for Irish Family History‘ is the most comprehensive listing of published sources (books, monographs and periodical papers) on Irish families. The references cited are mainly accounts of particular family lines and vary from fond and emotional accounts of families and their ancestral homes to dispassionate, well-researched and fully documented family studies and pedigrees. We have been busily researching a new edition over the last year and have almost doubled the number of references. One thing we have learnt is that a lot of material about individual families is published privately and stays below the radar of many web searches. If you have a publication on an Irish family that you would like to share with others, let us know about it. The only requirement is that it is available to those who might wish to obtain it (in a library, for sale etc). Any suggestions for inclusion would also be welcome. The new edition will be a CD with lots of useful links.
Flyleaf Press are finalising a new title – Tracing your Westmeath Ancestors, which has been written by Gretta Connell of the Westmeath Public Library service. Like the others in the County series, it will be a comprehensive guide to tracing ancestors in this county, which includes the towns of Mullingar and Athlone. It will be available in April and further details are on our website www.flyleaf.ie
The ‘Back to our Past’ Exhibition will run from 21st to 23rd October in the RDS Dublin, Ireland and promises to be a major showcase for all of the Irish and other organisations offering services and products related to Irish Family history. Flyleaf Press will be exhibiting its titles at the show, and will hopefully have some new titles available. Further details on the show are available at: www.backtoourpast.com/mysitecaddy/site3/exhibitor.htm
A new edition of the acclaimed book ‘Tracing your Cork Ancestors’ has been published by Flyleaf Press. The new title is greatly expanded (an added 40 pages) and updated with web-links and new references and sources. The first edition was widely praised by reviewers including Family History News who wrote “Rounded off by a comprehensive index, this volume is an invaluable guide to researching Cork Ancestors”. Details can be found at Tracing your Cork Ancestors.
We have recently launched an affiliates system, which gives a royalty payment of 5% of sales to anyone who directs a purchaser to our site. Quite a few genealogy societies have signed up for this offer, but it is surprising that more have not done so given that (a) a link to our site is relevant to their members interests and (b) it is a no-risk source of income. Has anyone out there had any experience of affiliate systems and why some websites are reluctant to sign up ? If you are interested, you can register at our site – http://www.flyleaf.ie/?module=affiliate .

Tracing your Mayo Ancestors – 2nd edition By Brian Smith
A new edition of this comprehensive guide is now available from Flyleaf. It describes how to best use the records available, and where they can be accessed. For each type of record it provides background information on how they were compiled and what information was contained, and on which categories of people. It also provides background on the social history of County Mayo and how this history has affected the keeping and survival of records.
